Building Creativity and Sustainability Together
Attendees used upcycled textiles and materials sourced from outdoor brands like The North Face® to craft unique cat trees for their pets. From cutting and drilling to decorating and assembling, participants embraced the challenge of turning repurposed materials into personalized creations.
“Our goal was to show people that sustainability can be fun, creative, and impactful,” said Linda Tang, Founder of Contingenci. “By using upcycled materials, not only are we reducing waste, but we’re also inspiring our community to think differently about the resources around them.”
The workshop celebrated community, creativity, and sustainability, as attendees enjoyed using power tools, sharing ideas, and working together to create functional art for their furry companions. The event concluded with a group photo showcasing their completed cat trees—a symbol of their collective efforts toward a greener future.
Why Upcycling Matters
Contingenci’s DIY Cat Tree Workshop highlighted the company’s core mission: to reduce global garment waste and foster sustainable practices. By repurposing surplus materials, the workshop diverted waste from landfills and demonstrated the potential of circular manufacturing.
“This event was about more than just cat trees,” Tang explained. “It was about building awareness for sustainability and encouraging everyone to take small steps that collectively lead to big changes for the planet.”
