Contingenci® by Good Human Encourages Students to Join Campus Sustainability Clubs to Make a Positive Impact
SAN JOSE, CA, July 11, 2024 - Contingenci® by Good Human, the first carbon-neutral circular manufacturing facility in San Jose specializing in upcycling deadstock into innovative veterinary products, invites students to join sustainability-focused clubs on their college campuses. These groups provide a platform for students to engage in activities that promote environmental stewardship and sustainability, as well as foster community involvement.
As we face increasing environmental challenges, educational institutions play a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness. By joining these types of organizations, students can contribute to making a significant impact both on and off campus. Involvement in these groups translate into more knowledge and care for the subject, and can indirectly incite peers and family members to reevaluate their own current practices.
On top of actively contributing to positive environmental change and helping to create a more renewable future, involvement in these clubs provides valuable hands-on experience in project management, teamwork and leadership, which are essential skills for all kinds of future careers. These environments also offer the opportunity for networking. Through building community and connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion, students surround themselves with determined young professionals and grow as driven leaders.
Located in the Bay Area, Contingenci® is surrounded by campus groups dedicated to creating impactful change. Just down the street from the facility, Santa Clara University is home to GREEN, also known as Grass Roots Environmental Efforts Now! This student-run ensemble focuses on educating others about the importance of preserving the local environment, and offers opportunities for members to engage in beach clean-ups, habitat restoration and an annual Earth Day festival.
Santa Clara’s student organizations are further supported by various academic systems. The Center for Sustainability honors groups with Sustainability Champion awards for meeting different criteria in the categories of collaboration, programming and purchasing. The center also employs Sustainability Liaisons to serve as peer educators within their respective fields to guide the best approaches to implementing eco-friendly methods into classrooms, resident communities, campus offices and research practices.
The significance of these sustainability clubs extends far beyond the university campus. In fact, these groups are often the first chance for young adults to utilize their voices to shape broader national efforts to address environmental challenges. Through nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious leaders, these clubs contribute to a growing movement that can inspire policy changes across the country. The collective actions of these students have the potential to lead to significant advancements in green technologies, reductions in carbon footprints and increased public awareness about the vitalness of environmental stewardship.
Students interested in joining a sustainability club should visit their school’s club involvement fair to learn more about each group and sign up. Information about each organization and their cause is available on the college’s website. Additionally, Contingenci® provides internship and job positions for young professionals seeking to gain experience in a business setting that prioritizes preserving the planet.
